A Love Letter to Seaweed Packaging (Podcast!)
Yep, I talked for a whole podcast episode about how cool seaweed packaging is.
A month or so ago, I had the incredible opportunity to talk with Sam of Pilgrimage Design for his podcast, Branding Love Letters. Branding Love Letters is, in his words:
Candid conversations about brands, exploring the emotions they evoke and the journeys they take us on. In each episode, released on the fourteenth of the month, a guest picks their favourite brand. Spanning multinational tech companies and local coffee shops, this fun and relaxed podcast is a celebration of the branding that informs, impacts and inspires us.
I immediately loved the concept and wanted to come up with a unique twist on it: a way to talk about a company I’m completely geeked about (Sway Seaweed Packaging) as you all know from previous Substacks, but also a discussion of greenwashing, packaging deisgn, and how I got started as a sustainable designer and some of the challenges I faced then, and sometimes still face now. A little preview (scroll for full episode link!):
Check out the episode on Spotify for a deep dive into both Sway as a company that is making an alternative “plastic” out of seaweed and a bit more of my personal design journey! Or click here for all the other platforms the podcast is available to listen on!
You can also check out a transcript here! Love the accessibility! :D Thanks again to Sam for having such a lovely conversation with me and letting me geek out about this stuff! I love the other episodes too, so if you enjoyed mine, consider checking out some others too. :)
Hope you all enjoy!
Apologies for the short Substack this week, I have been extremely sick for the last two weeks (thankfully I had pre-scheduled posts going out during that time), but I’m still on the mend.
If you missed it, I check out this past Substack issue on the coolest alternative packaging materials out there, where I talk more about Sway :) And show off some other super neat biotech companies working on sustainable packaging!
